Pegasus Reading Series is a monthly series presented by WordSpace showcasing writers in the North Texas area and beyond. Named Best Poetry Night by the Dallas Observer in 2015, Sebastian Paramo and Courtney Marie host.
Doors open at 7PM and show starts at 7:30PM.
This month, Courtney Marie and Sebastian Paramo feature Chen Chen, Stevie Edwards, Chloe Honum, and Keegan Lester.
CHEN CHEN is the author of When I Grow Up I Want to Be a List of Further Possibilities, winner of the A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize and forthcoming spring 2017 from BOA Editions, Ltd. A Kundiman and Lambda Literary Fellow, Chen’s work has appeared in two chapbooks as well as in publications such as Poetry, The Massachusetts Review, The Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, Best of the Net, and The Best American Poetry. Chen helps edit Iron Horse and Gabby. He also works on a new journal called Underblong, which he co-founded with the poet Sam Herschel Wein. Chen received his MFA from Syracuse University and is currently pursuing a PhD in English and Creative Writing at Texas Tech University. He lives in Lubbock with his partner Jeff Gilbert and their pug dog Mr. Rupert Giles.
STEVIE EDWARD’S first book, Good Grief (2012), was selected from an open manuscript competition at Write Bloody and received two post-publication awards: The Independent Publisher Book Awards Bronze in Poetry and the Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Her second book, Humanly (Small Doggies, 2015), was a finalist for contests at Crab Orchard, Four Way, and Cleveland State prior to being solicited. She is the Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Muzzle Magazine and Senior Editor in Book Development at YesYes Books. She holds an MFA in poetry from Cornell, and is a PhD Candidate and Teaching Fellow at University of North Texas.
CHLOE HONUM is the author of The Tulip-Flame (CSU, 2014), which was a finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Award and the winner of Foreword Review’s Book of the Year Award and the Texas Institute of Letters Best First Book of Poetry Award. Her chapbook, Then Winter, is forthcoming from Bull City Press in 2017. She is the recipient of a Ruth Lilly Fellowship and a Pushcart Prize. Raised in Auckland, New Zealand, Honum currently teaches at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
KEEGAN LESTER is an American poet splitting time between New York City and Morgantown, West Virginia. Mary Ruefle selected his first collection of poetry this shouldn’t be beautiful but it was & it’s all i had, so i drew it for the 2016 Slope Editions Book Prize. His work is published in or forthcoming from the Boston Review, The Atlas Review, Powder Keg, Boaat Journal, The Journal, Phantom Books, Tinderbox, CutBank, Reality Beach and Sixth Finch among others. He is the co-founder and poetry editor for the journal Souvenir Lit. He performs monthly with the New York City Poetry Brothel. He’s taught at the West Virginia Young Writers’ Holiday, Stonehill College, and multiple workshops in Morgantown, West Virginia, and was a mentor for the 2016 Adroit Journal Summer High School Mentorship Program. He was born in Huntington Beach, California. He earned his MFA from Columbia University.
